FG Wilson introduced the Perkins 4006-23TAG series of engines in place of the 3012TAG series to power their genset models P730P1 / P800E1 and P800P1 / P900E1.
These newly designed 23 Liter 6 cylinder diesel engines have individual heads with 4 valves per cylinder giving optimized gas flows, and unit injectors to ensure ultra fine fuel atomization hence controlled rapid combustion. It uses new and improved materials & design, such as strengthened pushrods, improved socket pads and an advanced gallery jet cooling system for pistons.
Features of the new P800E1 & P900E1 generators include
- Low gaseous emissions that will satisfy the requirements of ½ TA Luft @1500 RPM
- Improved load acceptance - Cold load acceptance of 70% of prime rating (obtained with an off-load running time of 15 s and 45° C block temperature prior to application of load) and hot load acceptance better than 70%.
- Tolerant of a wide range of temperatures without de-rate - Up to 1000m above sea level with an ambient of 35°C, or up to 50°C ambient at sea level without de-rating (1.5% de-rate for 1500rpm on P900E1 at 50°C)
- Better fuel consumption – 0.255l/kWh @ 50Hz and 0.279l/kWh @ 60Hz at the prime rating.
The Perkins 4000 series engine has exceptional power to weight ratio and compact size give optimum power density for easier transportation and installation. It is designed to provide excellent service access for ease of maintenance and has many components common to other engines in the 4000 series family resulting in reduced parts stocking requirements.
